This hypothesis is based on scientific knowledge that catalase breaks down hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. (Human life by G.D.Makean). The student is trying to find out whether the concentration of liver enzyme affects how it works, by conducting a good range of experiments using independent variables such as the level of distilled water to control the concentration of the liver enzyme that lead to dependent variables, the amount of oxygen given off to prove the hypothesis. The student uses five different concentrations so that a suitable number of observations can be made to validate the hypothesis and uses appropriate scientific equipment. For example the student uses test tubes to analyse the results of the experiments and a measuring cylinder to calculate the amount of distilled water needed to vary the concentrations of liver enzyme.
