Religion too many people can mean different things women in particular in comparison to men tend to have a whole different view on the aspect of religion and how it affects their lives.
Women in the UK outnumber men in church attendance in a ratio 2:1 which implies women are more religious than men which may lead to women being more involved in religion. Women and men according to Davie see god differently women see god as a god of love, comfort and forgiveness where as men see god as a god of power and control which then promotes the idea that women and men do see religion differently whether it is in a negative or positive manner.
Different religions see the role of women within a religion in different ways Armstrong believes that those religions which are older and polytheistic promote the role of the female an example being the fertility goddess, where as those patriarchal monotheism religions replaced polytheism as a result of male aggression throughout history the role of women became much more submerged and secondary to that of the male so within these religions women are seen in a lower light than men resulting in some negative consequences for example Ephesians 5:22 reads that wives submit to your husbands, which suggests that women are under the rule of the men which is the way in which patriarchal monotheism religions act.
